Adelaide City Support Solutions is a registered NDIS provider based in Adelaide’s CBD, at Level 4, Victoria Tower, 32–38 Grote Street. It provides support at home and in the community across Adelaide, and Level 2 support coordination. Its support workers help participants build everyday skills, confidence, independence and community connections, and its support coordinators help participants understand their NDIS plans, connect with suitable providers and coordinate their supports.

Its website says enquiries go directly to Edward, its founder and director, and that it works with NDIA-managed, plan-managed and self-managed participants of all ages.

Adelaide City Support Solutions is a registered business name of Support Solutions Group Pty Ltd, an Australian private company (ABN 77 647 023 694) active since January 2021. The company holds the NDIS registration.

Services Adelaide City Support Solutions provides

• In-home support — personal care and daily routines, meals and household assistance, and everyday living skills, in the participant’s own home
• Community access — support to get to appointments and shopping and to take part in social and community activities
• Life skills development — routines and planning, communication skills, independence and confidence
• Travel training — building the skills to travel more independently, as part of life skills development
• Level 2 support coordination — help to understand an NDIS plan, connect with providers and coordinate supports (Coordination of Supports)

The Commission holds eleven registration groups for this ABN. The five services above are the ones Adelaide City Support Solutions’ own website describes, and each sits within a group the register holds (support coordination sits within the group for assistance in coordinating or managing life stages, transitions and supports). The register also holds six further groups that the Adelaide website does not describe as services: Group/Centre Activities, Daily Tasks/Shared Living, Innovative Community Participation, Supported Independent Living, Accommodation/Tenancy and Assist — Travel/Transport. If you need one of these, ask directly whether it is delivered in Adelaide.

Registration and conditions

The Commission records this registration as Approved, with its period of registration in force until 9 October 2028. The register entry is published under the name Support Solutions Group Pty Ltd, with a head office in Townsville City, Queensland, and lists Adelaide City Support Solutions as one of its two outlets. The entry’s legal-name field shows Townsville Support Solutions Pty Ltd, which the Australian Business Register records as the company’s name until February 2023.

Two conditions are recorded on the registration by the Commission. They are reproduced below exactly as the register shows them, including the question mark that stands where an apostrophe belongs in the first:

1. “A variation condition is imposed for the assessment of Module 5A: Assistance with SIL. The audit must be conducted as part of the provider?s mid-term audit which must commence no later than 18mths after the date of registration.”

2. “A condition has been imposed, for providers of 0107 Assistance with daily personal activities, for risk assessment of participants who choose to be supported by a single worker.”

The first sets when the audit of the Supported Independent Living module takes place; this listing does not show Supported Independent Living as a service. The second requires a risk assessment when a participant chooses to be supported by a single worker for daily personal activities. What to ask before choosing an NDIS provider

Ask who your regular support worker or support coordinator would be, and what happens when they are sick or on leave. Ask for the hourly rates, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, and what the cancellation terms are, before you sign a service agreement.

If you want both support work and support coordination, ask how the provider keeps the two separate. A support coordinator should help you choose among providers freely, including providers other than their own organisation.

Registration shows what a provider is permitted to deliver. It does not tell you whether they have capacity for it this month. For a registered provider, complaints can also go to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

NDIS supports in Eastern Adelaide

Adelaide’s CBD is in the City of Adelaide, in the Eastern Adelaide NDIS service district. Adelaide City Support Solutions’ website describes its service area as the Adelaide CBD and surrounding suburbs, and names North Adelaide, Norwood, Prospect, Unley, Glenelg, Marion, Port Adelaide, Salisbury, Modbury and West Lakes. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Comparing a few providers is worth the time. For support work and support coordination alike, the fit with the individual worker or coordinator matters as much as the organisation.
