Understanding occupational therapy under the NDIS

Occupational therapists help NDIS participants build independence in everyday activities — from getting dressed and preparing meals to accessing education, employment, and community life. The ‘occupation’ in occupational therapy refers to any meaningful activity, not just work.

The NDIS rate for occupational therapy is $193.99 per hour. A typical initial assessment takes one to two hours and involves evaluating the participant’s functional capacity across their daily environment.
