For participants with limited verbal communication, an AAC assessment determines whether a low-tech solution (communication boards, visual schedules, key-word sign), a mid-tech solution (communication apps on a generic tablet) or a high-tech dedicated speech-generating device best fits the user's cognitive profile, motor abilities, and communication contexts.
