About Experience Life

Experience Life is a not-for-profit, registered NDIS provider delivering one-on-one disability support across Melbourne’s Eastern, Metropolitan and South Eastern suburbs, the Dandenong Ranges and the Bass Coast. The organisation is based at Cockatoo VIC 3781 and has been active on the Australian Business Register since 20 March 2006, under ABN 12 687 887 276. It is also an ACNC-registered charity.

The provider is additionally authorised to provide attendant care services to clients of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) under the Transport Accident Act 1986. That authorisation is separate from NDIS registration and is not listed below as an NDIS service.

The service model is one-on-one, at the participant’s home and out in their community. Experience Life describes the catchment as including Cockatoo, Emerald, Belgrave, Upwey, Ferntree Gully, Ringwood, Berwick, Pakenham and surrounding suburbs; for participants living further out, workers travel to the client.

Services Experience Life provides

The services below are the ones Experience Life’s own website describes AND that are covered by its current NDIS registration groups. Each is matched to the registration groups that cover it on the Commission’s register.

  • Supported Independent Living (SIL) — shared-living supports, household tasks and meal preparation delivered as part of an SIL arrangement (registration groups: Supported Independent Living; Daily Tasks in a group or shared living arrangement; Assistance with daily personal activities)
  • Daily personal activities and personal care — help with the activities of daily living, including medication management (registration groups: Assistance with daily personal activities; Assistance with daily personal activities, high intensity)
  • Community access and social participation — one-on-one support out in the community, including social and recreational activities (registration groups: Participation in community, social and civic activities; Innovative community participation)
  • Daily living and life skills — capacity building for everyday routines and independence (registration groups: Development of daily living and life skills; Participation in community, social and civic activities)
  • Transport assistance — help with travel to appointments, work, community and recreation activities (registration group: Assistance with travel and transport arrangements)

Registration and conditions

The registration is in force until 20 May 2028. The register entry is published under the legal name Experience Life, with the recorded head office COCKATOO VIC 3781.

Two conditions are recorded on the registration by the Commission. They are reproduced below as the register records them:

1. “A condition has been imposed, for providers of 0107 Assistance with daily personal activities, for risk assessment of participants who choose to be supported by a single worker.” ndiscommission.gov.au/providers/providers-assistance-daily

2. “A variation condition is imposed for the assessment of Module 5A: Assistance with SIL. The audit must be conducted as part of the provider’s mid-term audit, which must commence by 1 February 2027.”

See the Commission’s page for Experience Life for the current version.

What to ask before choosing a disability-support provider

For one-on-one support work, ask who the specific worker would be and how continuity is handled when that worker is away. Rapport matters, especially in home-based support.

For SIL arrangements, ask how household tasks and meal preparation are shared, how overnight or 24/7 cover is staffed, and how a change of housemate is handled.

Comparing a few providers is worth the time — especially where the match between support worker and participant is a large part of what makes the support work.
