Guiding Connections is an Adelaide-based NDIS support coordination service. Unregistered NDIS providers — what that means for you

Guiding Connections is not registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. It is honest to say so plainly, because for some participants it matters and for others it does not.

If your plan is self-managed or plan-managed, you can generally use an unregistered provider for support coordination. Some other supports require a registered provider however your funding is managed. If your plan is NDIA-managed, you generally need a registered provider to invoice the NDIA directly, so an unregistered coordination service is not usually an option.

Sort out the funding route before the first appointment, not after.

What to ask before choosing a support coordinator

Ask who your coordinator would be, what happens when that person is on leave, and how quickly they typically return calls or emails. For many participants, continuity with the individual coordinator matters more than the organisation's size.

If you are looking for specialist support coordination, ask what experience the coordinator has with situations like yours and how they work with your other providers when things become urgent.

Ask how they document agreements, how they handle disagreements with other providers, and what you can expect in the first month.
