Understanding community nursing under the NDIS
NDIS community nursing covers nursing care delivered in the participant's home or community setting where the care is directly related to disability support and not the responsibility of the mainstream health system. All NDIS-funded nurses must be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) — this is the same registration framework that applies to nurses working in hospitals. Registered nurses have completed a three-year bachelor degree; enrolled nurses have completed a Diploma of Nursing and work under RN supervision. The 2025-26 NDIS Pricing Arrangements set rates by qualification: registered nurse $124.62/hr, enrolled nurse $87.84/hr (weekday rates; evening, weekend and public-holiday loadings apply).
