Unregistered NDIS providers — what that means for you

LUMI Support is not currently registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. It is honest to say so plainly, because for some participants it matters and for others it does not.

If your plan is self-managed or plan-managed, you can use any provider you choose, registered or not, so long as the support is a reasonable and necessary use of your funding. If your plan is NDIA-managed, you generally need a registered provider to invoice the NDIA directly, so an unregistered coordination service is not usually an option.

Sort out the funding route before the first appointment, not after. LUMI has told ProviderScout it has applied for Commission registration and is waiting for the audit outcome — the status may change over time.

What to ask before choosing a support coordinator

Ask who your coordinator would be, what happens when that person is on leave, and how quickly they typically return calls or emails. For many participants, continuity with the individual coordinator matters more than the organisation's size.

Ask how they document agreements, how they handle disagreements with other providers, and what you can expect in the first month.

If language matters, ask directly which coordinators speak the language you prefer, and whether that is available for your plan or on an interpreter-only basis.
