Mind & Body Support
About Mind & Body Support
Mind & Body Support is a disability support business based in Eltham, working with children, teenagers, young adults and adults across Melbourne’s northern and north-eastern suburbs. It is a registered business name of a sole trader (ABN 69 631 530 600), with the ABN active since July 2022 and the business name registered since March 2023.
Its website describes flexible, goal-based support delivered by support workers matched to each participant’s goals, personality and interests — community access, life skills, disability fitness, social support and help at home.
Mind & Body Support takes NDIS referrals from self-managed and plan-managed participants, as well as people funding support privately. It is not registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, and its own website says so plainly. That does not prevent it from supporting participants funded either of those ways — but an NDIA-managed (agency-managed) participant generally cannot use an unregistered provider.
Services Mind & Body Support provides
The services below are taken from Mind & Body Support’s own website. Availability can vary, so confirm directly that a specific support is offered in your suburb and fits your plan.
- Community access and participation — support to get out for shopping, appointments, hobbies, fitness, social activities and community groups
- Social and recreational support — outings, activities and events built around the participant’s interests, including school holiday programs and community excursions
- In-home support and help with daily life — daily routines, meal preparation, household tasks and support to attend appointments and follow agreed therapy strategies
- Life skills and capacity building — communication, budgeting, cooking, travel training, decision-making and problem-solving
- Transport support — transport to work, school, TAFE, appointments and activities, and help building confidence on public transport
- Disability personal training and fitness — personal training, gym participation, walking and outdoor fitness programs
- School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) — work-readiness, communication, travel and everyday skills for young people leaving school
- Educational and homework support — help for children and young people with homework, study routines and organisation
Unregistered NDIS providers โ what that means for you
Mind & Body Support is not registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. It is honest to say so plainly, because for some participants it matters and for others it does not.
If your plan is self-managed or plan-managed, you can use any provider you choose, registered or not, so long as the support is a reasonable and necessary use of your funding. If your plan is NDIA-managed, you generally need a registered provider that can claim from the NDIA directly, so an unregistered provider is not usually an option.
Sort out the funding route before the first session, not after.
What to ask before choosing a support provider
Ask who the support worker would be and what happens when that person is away. Continuity matters, and Mind & Body Support says it matches each participant with a worker who suits them — ask how that match is made and how a change is handled.
Ask for a written service agreement that sets out the hourly rates, how travel and transport kilometres are charged, and the cancellation terms before support starts.
Ask whether your suburb is inside their usual service area, especially for the outer suburbs and townships at the edge of their list.
NDIS supports in North Eastern Melbourne
Eltham is in the Shire of Nillumbik, in Melbourne’s north-east. Mind & Body Support’s website lists suburbs including Eltham, Diamond Creek, Greensborough, Doreen, Mernda, South Morang, Epping, Mill Park, Bundoora, Preston and Reservoir.
Comparing a few providers is worth the time, particularly for ongoing community and in-home support, where the individual support worker matters as much as the business.
